To all friends of Choral Music,
I have created this website to allow you to become acquainted with all of my musical compositions, most of them composed for choirs, either for mixed voices, or for one voice, preferably a capella.
I was born in 1964 and was introduced to choral music at the end of my degree of Classical studies in the beautiful city of Granada, between 1986-87. Singing in the Manuel de Falla University Choir awakened my interest in learning more about music, of which I was a great enthusiast.
Back again in Malaga, my home town, I was one of the founding members of two choirs: the Coral Cármina Nova, in which I sang as a tenor, and the Malaga Opera Choir. In the first choir I was able to put into practice my knowledge of vocal music with my first compositions. It was then that I decided to compose, while I was studying at the Conservatoir of Malaga. At the same time, I started working as a teacher at the Leon XIII High School, where I was a former student. I am still teaching Spanish language, music, Latin and similar subjects.
Ten years after my introduction to the world of choral music, at the request of my parish priest, Father Antonio Martín, I decided to create the Coral Corpus Christi, which since then has grown in members, quality and repertoire.
In the catalogue that I am including on this website, I indicate when these pieces were performed for the first time, if I can remember. I say this becasue I have no control over pieces that I have given as gifts or of those that have been available on the internet for years.
Two of my compositions have received prizes. The three-part composition called Tres villancicos pintorescos (Three Picturesque Christmas Carols) in Granada in 1995 and the madrigal Como el mar (Like the Sea) rewarded in Getafe in 2007.
My music is for all of you who wish to listen to it or perform it and I don't ask for anything in exchange, but some information: if you like it, if you don't, if you have performed it or if any of my works have been sung for the first time. To make things easier for you, I am making my compositions available in PDF, Midi and Encore. If I have a recording, I will also make it available in MP3.
I would like to thank my friend Nancho Álvarez (whose website tomasluisdevictoria.org I recommend you) for helping me in the development and updating of this page. And a special thanks to Margaret Castellanos & Elizabeth de la Croix-Vaubois as well for the translation into English. Without these three people my website would not exist.
I hope you enjoy my music.
