Have mercy on me, O God in your great mercy. By your multiple compassions wipe out my guilt. Thoroughly wash me from my guilt and my sin cleanse me. For I acknowledge my guilt, and my sin is in front of me always. Against you only have I sinned, and done what is evil in front of you: you are justified in your words, sovereign in your judgement. Here is: I was born in guilt, and in sin my mother conceived me. Here is: you love truth: you show me what is unknown and hidden in your wisdom. Cleanse me with hyssop, I shall be pure: wash me and I shall be whiter than snow. Let me hear the sounds of joy and gladness: the bones laid on soil will bound. Turn away your face from my sins, and blot out all my guilt. A clean heart create for me, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit in my entrails. It is fulfilled in David's true song that prophesied, saying: among the nations God has reigned from a tree. O tree of light and beauty, adorned with royal purple, chosen from stock worthy to touch the sacred limbs. The blessed tree, upon whose branches hung the ransom of the world, was made the balance for his body, and bore away the spoils of hell. Hail, O Cross, our only hope. In this Passiontide increase justice to the pious. Grant forgiveness to sinners. God most high Trinity, may every soul praise you: for ever reign over those you save through the mystery of the Cross. Sion, praise thy Saviour, give praises to thy guide and pastor in hymns and songs. Praise him as strongly and boldly as you can since he is greater than all praise which can never be sufficient. Let praise be full, let it be sonorous, let it be joyful, le it be graceful, let our souls rejoice. What thou canst not see or understand must eagerly be affirmed by faith outside the natural order of things.
