This is the last update of the web using the version "1.4" of lilypond, the software we use to engrave the scores. From now on we will use version "2.11" and successive.

There was a restructuring of the scores section.

En the Morales section we have added 8 complete masses.

En the other scores section we have added about 100 pieces. If you print them all you will get almost 500 pages (from a total of 2818). The most interesting are:
- misa brevis by Palestrina
- misa pange lingua by Josquin
- Sestina by Monteverdi
- Ensalada la bomba by Mateo Flecha

In the symphonic music section we have added the didactic midis of:
- St. Matthew's Passion by Bach

- From 24 to 28 of July 2006, in Vélez-Málaga (Spain) there was a summer course entitled Musica Vocal en la Edad Media y el Renacimiento, organized by the Grupo Vocal de la Fundación General de la Universidad de Málaga.

In the other scores section we have added:

Some medieval and
renassaince pieces, in particular two ensaladas by Mateo Flecha: La guerra and El fuego.

Some popular pieces performed by us in our grupo vocal.
- Eight popular pieces from Venezuela, edited and arranged by Gregory Pino.

I have augmented the disks section with eight new CD's.
I have also added some discographic references taken from the book by Cramer.

In the scores section I have added to motets attributed to
Victoria and found recently by Eugene Cramer:
"Date ei de fructu" and "Ave verum corpus".
I have cleaned a little bit the manuscripts section.

In the other scores section, we have added:
- Ten motets by Morales (57 printed pages).
- Seven compositions from Argentina, including some tango by Piazzola.
- The score of Ave Maria by Franz Biebl.

Corrected small typos in the XVI century cronology. Only in spanish.

Added 3 psalms and a responsory to the texts section.
- In the links section I have added the interesting site by Francisco
Villanueva Spanish early music Midi Files.

This is the first update after three months.
In this time, the number of visits to the web has grown to 5000 each month.

There has been very few participation in the Top 10 poll.

We have added two recordings to the mp3 section. Thanks very much to Amalia Rodríguez
for her version of "Ave Maria a 4" and to Javier Uceda for "Quem vidistis pastores".

In the other scores section, I have added:
- Other 25 motets by Guerrero (more than 100 new printed pages).
- An edition of Allegri's Miserere optimized to fit in only 5 pages.
- Some pieces of the repertorie of the two choirs where I sing. I only include the didactic midi of some works.

The facsimils section has been a big success. Since its publication,
the number of visits to the web has grown to 100 per day.
- He have started two small sections:
- Top 10, a list with the most popular works by Victoria. Participate in the poll!
- Trivia, information that does not fit in other section.

We have augmented the mp3 section with recordings of the choir from Malaga "Nostro Tempo",
and the Swedish group "Gustaf Vasa Chamber Choir".

- The Mass pro defunctis a 4, by Morales.
- "Now is the month of maying" by Thomas Morley.

World novelty!
We have started a section with
high resolution pictures of original editions by Victoria.
It includes a small guide on how to read scores from XVI century. Only in spanish, sorry.

Versa est in luctum by Alonso Lobo.
Beautiful, but it can not compare with Victoria's setting.

In the scores section I have put
a few pieces supposed to be by Victoria (although I would not bet).
They are very short works preserved in one of the recopilations made by Karl Proske in the XIX century,
in particular the volumen called "Mappe Victoria I".
I have transcribed also five falsobordones,
which are a kind of accompaniment to psalmody.
All these works appear in the book by Eugene C. Cramer "Studies in the music of Tomas Luis de Victoria".

I have augmented the disks section.
Now it contains information about 39 recordings.
You can help me to improve it by writing a short commentary about one of these recordings, I will publish it here.

In the other scores section I have added the motets by Guerrero "Gabriel Archangelus"
and "Exaltata est" and the english song "There is no rose of swych virtu".

I have added the salmos de vísperas to the scores section.
These psalms were found a few decades ago in a library in Rome.
To make this transcriptin I used the great facsimile edition published by
Obra Social de Caja de Ávila.
Besides the facsimiles, this edition contains a musicological transcription (much better than mine).

I have completed the motet vidi speciosam a 8.
This motet was found by the musicologist Eugene C. Cramer, and it was published recently as a musical supplement
in the book "Studies in the music of Tomás Luis de Victoria" (Ashgate).
I would like to thank Professor Cramer for his help and his kindness.

In the
other scores section I have added an anonymous composition: Estas noches atan largas
and one by Juan del Encina: Gasajemonos de hucia.

- We have completed all the printed works of Victoria!!!!!!!!!!
There are only a few works left: the salmos de visperas, the pieces discovered by Cramer, and some more dubious works preserved in manuscript sources.
- He have included in the scores section the version of the lamentaciones conserved in the manuscript 186 of the Sixtine Chapel. It is a previous version of the lamentations that were published later in the Officium Hebdomadae Sanctae.
- The web site has now a visitor counter. Thank you Joan.
- Tomas Luis de Victoria has become dated these days, because of the interpretation of the Mass Pro Victoria in the
Royal Marriage of the heir to the spanish crown, Don Felipe de Borbon.

- Our friend Javier Ruiz del Castillo
has compiled a huge amount of historical, cultural and musical facts of the XVI century and has put them together in a
spectacular chronology.
He also made a summary with the information regarding only the life of
Tomás Luis de Victoria.
Do not miss these two extraordinary pages. Only in Spanish (sorry).

With the inclusion of the mass Alma Redemptoris in the scores section,
we have completed all the authentic masses of Victoria.

Added the motet by Guerrero Quasi Cedrus to the other scores section.

Started the new section editions,
where we list the books of scores that Victoria published and also some modern editions.

I have put some pictures in the books section.
- Victoria published four different settings of the antifona Salve Regina.
We have now the four versions available in the web.
- I have added in the hymns list, informatation regarding the feast in which they were performed.
- I have written a page with technical notes about the scores.

- Added 17 new hymns, more that 50 printed pages. With them we have completed all the hymns by Victoria.
- In the section other scores we have added the last composition of
Juan Francés de Iribarren, a Stabat Mater.
- We added also a very nice motet by Morales, Circundederunt me.
- We have started the section texts in english.
- We are now closed to the 10th position in the the search engine google.

- Added six hymns. With them, we have already half of the hymns by Victoria in our scores page.
- Added two motets by Guerrero in the section other scores.
- Added La Tricotea, a piece from the Cancionero de Palacio, to the scores of XVI century.
- We have ordered a little biy the scores pages.
- I have removed the didactic MIDIS page. Now all the MIDI files are accesible from the scores section.
- I have added META tags to all the pages to improve our ranking in the search engines. Currently, looking for "Tomas
Luis de Victoria" in google we are close to the 100th position. Too bad.

- Translated into english the biography section.
- Two new books in the secion of bibliography,
one by Eugene Cramer, and the recent edition of Salmos de Vísperas by Esteban Hernández Castelló, published by
Caja de Avila.
- In the section other scores we have added 6 motets by Guerrero and a few popular
works of other composers.
- Four new hymns by Victoria, among them Vexilla Regis.

- We have started the translation of this site to the english language.
There is a lot of work to do yet.
- We have added three hymns.
- Completed the collection of magnificats in all the gregorian modes.
- Corrected a missprint in Cum Beatus Ignatius.
- Added three motets by Guerrero and a piece from the cancionero de Uppsala
to the section otrer scores. By the way,
I have put a little bit or order in this page.
- I have written a short text for the apocryphal
works section.
- I have included a link to cipoo.net.
- Augmented the acknowledgements section.
- (November 5th, 2003): 170 links have been updated.
- (October 20th, 2003): I have added two psalms to the scores section.
With this, I only miss ten psalms which are preserved as manuscripts in
the National Library of Rome: does anyone know whether these pieces have ever
been edited?
- (October 14th, 2003): We have more than 1000 printed pages!!
- (October 14th, 2003): I have finished two more masses. With these, out of all masses
of Victoria, we only miss "Alma redemptoris mater".
- (October-12th, 2003): After an almost two-month long break, we are online again.
Many thanks to the chorus of the Universidad Politecnica de Valencia, and
particularly to Joan Vila for finding for us some room to host this site.
- (October-1st, 2003): I have finished a new version of the mass "Vidi speciosam",
correcting some typos present in the version of www.cpdl.org.
- (August-28th, 2003): I am practically done with all the material from Victoria
that I have. Only a piece of doubtful authorship is missing, plus a few
other minor pieces. I need help: if you own any score which is not
present in these pages, please contact me. Thanks in advance.
- (August-28th, 2003): Since January this year we have had more than 10000 visitors!!!
- (August-28th, 2003): We have made our first year on the web! During this time,
we have completed transcription of more than two thirds of Victoria's works.
